    Sapling: highly sustainable "Green Spirits"

Friday, 14 November 2025 Francesca Negri, Friday, 14 November 2025 (0 minutes read)

‘At Sapling Spirits, we believe that quality drinks should give something back to the planet, to people and to the present moment." Guided by the philosophy of "less is more," Ed Faulkner and Ivo Devereux started out in a small shed in Peckham, London, and have now created an international business that produces truly sustainable spirits.

The idea was born in 2017, following the destruction of over 150,000 trees in Scotland due to a devastating fire. Among the volunteers in reforestation projects were Ed and Ivo, who soon realised how difficult it was to get enough people involved to make a real impact. To encourage participants, they organised a cocktail bar at the end of the day: a highly successful initiative that later turned into a series of small festivals. Shortly afterwards, however, the two realised that serving traditional alcoholic beverages, which have a high environmental impact, was at odds with their mission: this is where the story of Sapling begins.

The project launched by the two friends is based on a simple mission: to combine exceptional taste with a positive environmental impact. This is why everything superfluous is eliminated during the distillation process and every element is carefully chosen: organic ingredients, reusable packaging and regenerative agriculture.

With zero compromise on quality, Sapling's super-premium spirits, distilled from selected grain, prove that refined taste and a conscious lifestyle can go hand in hand.

    One bottle, one tree

A central element of Sapling's commitment to sustainability is the ‘One Bottle, One Tree’ initiative: for every bottle sold, a tree is planted. To date, the company has planted over 511,000 trees worldwide, with the ambitious goal of reaching one million by 2027. In Italy, the company has partnered with farmers in Puglia to replant olive trees affected by Xylella. "With The Olive Tree project, we want to make a concrete contribution to the regeneration of an extraordinary territory and the fight against the spread of Xylella. Sapling was created to demonstrate that every toast can have a positive impact, and seeing this spirit come to life in Italy is a source of great pride for us," says Ed Faulkner.

Sapling does not just offset its emissions, but aims to remove more carbon than it produces, integrating low-impact, plastic-free packaging, bottles made from 40% recycled glass and fully recyclable, refill systems that have already avoided the production of over 310,000 bottles, and local production in distribution markets to reduce transport emissions.

This commitment has led Sapling Spirits to achieve B Corp certification with a score of 127.4, placing it in the top tier of certified companies worldwide.

    Sapling Climate Positive Vodka

Sapling Climate Positive Vodka is made exclusively from British grain and is distilled four times for a clean, fresh and naturally sweet taste. On the palate, it stands out for its buttery profile with notes of citrus and vanilla, offering a smooth and refined experience. Perfect to enjoy on the rocks or as a base for classic cocktails.

Sapling Climate Positive London Dry Gin

A London Dry Gin produced in England with British wheat grown using regenerative practices. Distilled in small batches, it uses selected organic botanicals, including juniper berries, citrus peel and rosemary, for a distinctive aromatic profile that reveals pronounced notes of juniper and citrus on the nose, with a hint of rosemary. On the palate, it is fresh, clean and balanced, with a herbaceous and persistent finish. Ideal for classic cocktails such as Gin and Tonic or Negroni, it highlights freshness and natural aromas.

Sapling Raspberry Vodka with Hibiscus (ABV. 40%)

Sapling Raspberry & Hibiscus Vodka is part of Sapling Spirits' “Wonky Range”, which promotes imperfect but tasty fruit to reduce food waste. Distilled four times from British grain, it retains a clean and naturally sweet taste. The nose reveals notes of juicy raspberries and floral accents of hibiscus; on the palate, it is fresh and fruity, offering a smooth and harmonious experience. A fruity and refreshing blend created using “wonky” raspberries (aesthetically imperfect but tasty and very often discarded by supermarkets for this very reason), giving them a second chance. Enjoy it not only neat but also as a base for cocktails such as Raspberry Mule or Sapling Spritz, thanks to its combination of versatility, taste and sustainability.
